Our Community Outreach program is a series of workshop designed to provide a greater understanding of Puerto rican Folkloric dance. Participants will be introduced to diffrent types dances such as: bomba, plena and seis. This project has been taking place in Spanish Harlem since 2003 and at P.S.114 in the Bronx since 2007. This project is supported by public donations, private and government funds.
The goal in our community outreach project is to enhance participants creative potential while learning about Puerto Rican folk music and dance. This is a concrete way to get them involved in the performing arts. For some participants this project will give them greater understanding about their own heritage, for others it will be a an introduction to another part of their diverse community.
